How to Determine the Correct Shoe Size
If you have ever wondered about how to determine the correct shoe size, then the information that follows may prove to be rather useful to you. Making sure that a shoe fits is of course extremely important because the wrong size can lead to you developing all kinds of issues not only with your feet, but also your ankles, knees, and even your hips due to it then altering the way that you walk.
The main thing that you need to do is to make sure that you measure your feet correctly and this is something that anybody can do at home without too many problems and the first thing that you need to do is to get some paper and a pencil. This may sound rather strange, but what you need to do is to tape the paper down to the floor and then simply draw around your foot, without wearing a shoe of course, in order to get the outline and it is this sketch that you will then use to determine your shoe size. Do make sure that you do this standing up and with your knee pushed forward to push your foot flat and if you struggle to do this, then get somebody to draw around it for you.
After you have drawn around your foot, draw a straight line showing the extent of your heel, the top of your toes, and also a line at the widest part of your foot making sure that you mark both sides. The idea here is to then use these lines as your measuring points as this is easier than simply using a rough guide of the heel or toes in general and it leads to a more accurate result as well.
Next, get a tape measure and simply take readings from the heel to the toe and then across your foot and note them down. These measurements will then form the basis of determining your shoe size, so make a note of them elsewhere, but do not think that these measurements represent your shoe size as you need to subtract 3/16ths of an inch from them as this allows for errors being made thanks to the width of the pencil, so subtract this and then write the answer down on your sketch for you to then refer back to later on.
Finally, look at the measurements and compare them to a chart online that lists the different shoe sizes and see which one is closest to what you have written down. You may find that a half size is going to be better for you, but this will mean that at least it is going to fit you and be quite comfortable on your foot at all times.
So that is how to determine the correct shoe size and you can see that it is a lot easier than you may have initially thought and it will only take you a couple of minutes to actually sit down and work it all out. The key thing here is to make sure that the measurements are done correctly and you do also have the option of getting somebody else to trace around your foot if you find this part difficult. As long as you take your time, then you should have no problems whatsoever and you can look forward to then wearing a shoe that fits you perfectly without slipping or crushing your toes in the process.
