Smitten
While Christmas shopping, I stopped into the Virgin Megastore to pick up the most recent Alicia Keyes CD for Mom. As I walked by the sale rack, I thought, "Hm, maybe I should get some new music for myself." Mika's Life in Cartoon Motion jumped out at me because, well, look at it:

I said to myself, "I sure like those two or three songs that I can't remember the names of, and it's only $10, so why not?" I bought the CD and then promptly forgot about it.
I had a fairly wretched day of work yesterday, and by the time dinner rolled around, I was basically grunting and glaring at imaginary people who had slighted me in some major way. I decided to put some music on to perk myself up while I cooked. I had Pink's Missundaztood in the CD player, as I've recently rediscovered it. I bet my landlords are totally sick of listening to me sing Don't Let Me Get Me at top volume. But Pink wasn't really doing it for me. Pantera? Nope. The Cure? Nope. And then it hit me: Mika.
I dug it out of a pile of crap in my room and put it on. As every song started, I thought, "Oh, I know this song! I love this song!" Two songs in, and I was dancing like a lunatic all over my kitchen. Three songs in, my bad mood was completely gone.
I know I'm a little late on this whole Mika thing. I tend to discover bands by accident, though. Why, just last week I asked someone, "Have you heard of that Green Day? They have some sort of rock opera album? It's quite good!'" Okay, that's an exaggeration, but you get the idea. Plus, look how adorable he is:

So, my official review is this: Happiest. Album. Ever. I dare you to listen to it and not shake it. I expect to be in a better mood for the next two weeks, at least.
