Update

Still waiting to hear about that job, although they emailed me yesterday to let me know that I am still very much in the running.

Had a weird interview yesterday for another job I'd really like to have. Weird because I've gone out drinking with the guy who would be my boss on several occasions. He didn't really ask me a lot of standard interview questions and I didn't really go in for the hard sell. Plus, there's a certain degree of lying that needs to take place when you're in an interview situation, and I can only lie to strangers. You can't say the following to someone who could potentially be your boss:

"I'm just looking for something that's interesting and challenging and pays me enough to cover my bills and vacations. If I don't have to be tortured by psychopaths every day, and I still have enough energy at the end of the day to write, I will stay at that job forever, or until I get a book deal. I like to work, and I'm a hard worker, but I don't want to be a VP or a Director or any of that shit. I'm not defined by what I do for a living."

Yeah, you can't say that. So I didn't. But I didn't go through the whole completely made up career track spiel either. Oh well. I have a lot of resumes out there right now.

On to Captain Jersey. You know how I was going to sit back and wait for him to ask me out? Turns out I'm not so patient. I asked him to hang out some night next week in my last email. We'll see what he says.
