Developments
Two things happened this week. One on the job front and one on the romance front. They're both things I don't want to talk about too much or get too excited about, but well, I am excited and I do want to talk about them.
Job front. I sent in a resume for a News Writer position at a big monstrous corporation that owns practically everything. And while the particular organization I sent my resume to did not contact me, somehow one of the news magazines owned by the corporation called me and asked if I'd like to be a Web Producer. As I've established, Web Producer + News = my current career goal. I went in today and met three people on the team. An HTML test is on its way and if I get the job, I could be starting as early as Monday. May put a wrench in my upcoming week-long Hamptons trip, but I'll see what I can do. Even if I don't get it, the hopes, they are up.
Romance front. I got a response to my personal ad and immediately decided not to write back because one, he didn't have a picture and two, he lives in Jersey City. Then I changed my mind and wrote back anyway because we seemed to have a lot in common and really, I can get to Jersey City faster than I can get to Williamsburg. Not that I particularly want to, but still. Everything's a compromise, right?
Anyway, we've been emailing back and forth and as it turns out, we have more in common than I even suspected. Both writers? Check. Both horror film freaks and reality TV junkies? Check. Heavy metal fans? Fucking A right. Both wanting to force feed Jennifer Connelly cheesecake? Yep. Chuck Palahniuk devotees? Uh huh.
We haven't made plans to meet in person yet, but the emails are coming along quite nicely. He also sent me a picture of himself. Tall, dark longish hair and glasses. Which is pretty much exactly my type. Even better? He was making the heavy metal devil horns in his pic.
If all goes well, things should be getting a whole lot more interesting around here soon. And I've decided there's absolutely nothing wrong with getting one's hopes up.
